Life-changing DBT Therapy
Are you or a loved one battling severe depression, eating disorders, self-harm, or thoughts of suicide? DBT® therapy can help. We can help you rediscover a life worth living.Â

What is DBT Therapy?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT®, is a structured approach to therapy.  The power of DBT® therapy is that it focuses on helping people with behavior change. Rather than focusing on why you feel the way you feel, DBT® therapy focuses on what you are doing, how you are acting, or how you are reacting.
DBT® therapy provides you with the skills to cope, learn how to regulate your emotions, and overcome your impulses. Â
The comprehensive, or fully-adherent approach to DBT® therapy involves five main elements:  individual one-on-one therapy, a personal journal or diary card to keep track of your progress, group skills training, a therapist consultation team, and phone coaching with your therapist outside of sessions to help you practice your skills. Although this comprehensive DBT therapy is the classic approach, “DBT Informed” therapy can also be effective. DBT-Informed therapy simply means that the therapist will customize the therapy plan to suit your needs, picking the elements of the full approach that are appropriate to you.
How Can DBT Therapy Help?
Mindfully’s DBT® therapy has been shown to be effective in helping people who struggle with emotion regulation, difficult relationships, feelings of hopelessness, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, or self-destructive behaviors.
One of the most common frustrations with therapy is feeling like you gain insight during a session, but it doesn’t translate into behavioral change outside of the session. DBT® therapy is often more effective than traditional therapy approaches because we teach the skills and provide the tools to help people cope with intense emotions, enhance, and navigate challenging situations.

Who Does DBT Therapy Help?
DBT® therapy can help adults and teens. DBT® therapy teaches adults and teens practical skills such as distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Â
Additionally, the modular framework of DBT counseling enables our therapists to address a range of issues while still providing clear structure. As a result, we are able to address the diverse needs of adults and teenagers as they navigate the complexities of life.Â
Teens can especially benefit from the structure of DBT therapy because DBT therapy focuses on factors that are especially relevant during the teenage years: managing stress, emotions, and relationships:
- DBT therapy targets impulsivity and risky decision-making
- DBT skills apply to everyday life, making them relevant and easy for teens to adopt.Â
- DBT may involve group support, which can help in feelings of loneliness or isolation. Â
- Teen DBT therapy often involves other family members, helping to improve family communication and understanding.

What is Fully-Adherent DBT vs Informed DBT Therapy?
We offer two kinds of DBT® therapy: fully-adherent DBT® (also known as comprehensive DBT®) and informed DBT®.Â
Our fully-adherent Adult DBT® therapy helps you learn skills and apply them to your daily life. This comprehensive approach incorporates:
- Weekly individual therapy occurs with a highly-trained clinician.
- Participating in weekly Adult Skills Training Classes, where you will learn a host of skills.
- Keeping track of a diary card to record your moods and behaviors.
- Access to phone coaching with your therapist. This is a component of the comprehensive program, where you have the opportunity to contact your therapist to practice and apply your skills outside of counseling.
The informed DBT® therapy applies elements of fully-informed DBT®, but not all of it. Your Mindfully therapist would work with you to determine the best combination of treatments to help you get what you need.
